T’álew means ‘arm’.


Pronunciation

T’álew sounds like TAL-oh, except that the first t is ‘popped’ (‘ejective’) t’, which you make by combining the t with a catch in the throat (glottal stop).

Note: some speakers pronounce the last vowel as in English oh (as note above), but other speakers say the last vowel in this word more like the  ‘oo‘ sound  in English ‘too‘ or ‘soon‘. For these speakers, the word could be spelled t’álu.
