Illustration for "thutl'o" - 'she, her'

she, her

Thútl’o means ‘she‘, or ‘her‘. (Compare tútl’o – ‘he, him‘.)

Pronunciation

  • Thútl’o sounds like THOOT-law, except that the tl’ consists of t’ + l (t’ is a ‘popped’ sound, in this case a t combined with a catch in the throat, to make an ‘ejective’ release)
  • The dictionary records this word with a variety of different spellings including thú:tl’ò and thútl’ò. These correspond to slight differences in vowel length and pitch, and all are ‘correct’.
