sq’ó

Sq’ó is the Halq’eméylem word for ‘companion’. You can also use sq’ó to mean ‘other part’ or ‘go along with’.

Pronunciation

• Sq’ó sounds like SKAW, except that instead of a k you say the Halq’eméylem q, which you make with the back of your tongue touching your uvula.
• This q is also ‘popped’ (q’), by combining it with a catch in the throat (glottal stop).
