Chexw is one way of saying ‘you‘ in the language.
Note: this is the form for speaking to one person; to talk to two or more, you would use ‘chap‘.
Pronunciation
Chexw sounds like chook‘, except instead of a k at the end you say the Halq’eméylem soft-x sound (with rounded lips). Note that in fast speech the vowel in chexw can disappear, so it sounds like just chxw.

Other words for saying ‘you’ in the language include:
- chap – you (for talking to two or more people)
- teléwe – YOU (emphasizing)
In addition, in certain sentence patterns, including sentences talking about if (possibilities) ‘you‘ becomes just a –xw ending on another word.
