Hákw’eles is the Halq’eméylem word for ‘to remember’.


Pronunciation

  • Hákw’eles sounds like HACK-wuh-liss, except that the k sound is rounded and popped (kw’).
  • To make the k pop (k’), you combine it with a catch in your throat (glottal stop).
  • To make the k round (kw), you stick your lips out slightly as you say it.
